About Lynette Burgan
With an M.A. in Theatre Arts focused on Acting Theory and a B.F.A. in Theatre Performance and English (Dramatic Literature), I bring a deeply academic yet practical foundation to the world of educational theater.
My Mission
For teachers seeking high-quality lesson plans and classroom resources, I offer a wealth of experience from my time as a Private School Teacher (K-8), where I integrated Art, Drama, and Technology into the curriculum. I have developed and produced over 800 theater workshop sessions, including the “Theatre History Museum,” a curriculum-based experience that leads students through seven major eras of theater history, from the Ancient Greeks to the American Musical. Additionally, the Kid’s Interactive Theatre Experience (KITE) and “Theater Tales” programs and have reached over 10,000 children, providing structured yet creative environments for students to learn acting, song, and movement.
If you are looking for scripts for your next production, I have extensive experience in both writing and adaptation. I have led workshops and educational theater programs to adapt the works of Pinocchio, The Little Princess, A Midsummer Nights Dream, Romeo and Julie, and have guided students through writing original scripts based on fairytales and original stories. My portfolio includes interactive scripts for solo performers and full-scale touring productions.
For those navigating the complexities of directing a school play, I provide insights gained from producing and directing over 40 plays and musicals. My directing credits span various genres, including “A Midsummer Night’s Dream”, “The Pirates of Penzance”, “Alice in Wonderland”, and “Pippi Longstocking”. My professional work has been recognized with the Denver Drama Critic’s Circle Award and several Irene Ryan nominations. Furthermore, my background in costume and set design ensures that I understand the holistic needs of a production, from the first rehearsal to the final curtain call.
I have also received specialized training at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, studying Shakespearean history, voice, and fight choreography with world-renowned experts. Whether you are a new director or a veteran drama teacher, my goal is to provide the resources and professional expertise you need to create a vibrant theater program in your school.
Analogy: Navigating a school theater production is like building a ship while you’re already at sea; my goal is to provide you with the blueprint, the tools, and the experience to ensure your crew reaches the shore successfully.
