The Great Acorn Heist is a one act for young players that is filled with really fun moments like the exchange here between Sasha and Nico, two forest squirrels who find that their winter stash of acorns is not where it should be. We meet other creatures in the play and there are many secrets to keep.
When teaching young performers, I find that animal characters are a doorway into the craft of acting. Sometimes acting like other “people” block some young actors from finding their own voice, where as creating an animal persona allows them to go deeper on physicality, play more with vocal inflection and much more.
